[ARCHIVED] Mosquito-Borne Illness

Human West Nile Virus WNV cases have now been reported in both eastern and western MA; an indication that WNV virus is prevalent throughout the state. Late August and September remains the peak risk period for human infection with both WNV and Eastern Equine Encephalitis EEE in Massachusetts. Mosquitoes infected with WNV and EEE are being found in many places in Massachusetts and personal precautions such as mosquito repellent and avoiding outdoor activity from dusk to dawn are more important than ever.
