Emergency Management Department

The Gloucester Fire Department is the lead agency in an integrated emergency management system for the City of Gloucester. The Emergency Management Department for the City of Gloucester is described in the Gloucester Code of Ordinance. The Department is led by the Emergency Management Director (EMD) who is also the Assistant Fire Chief or in his absence the Fire Chief. The department has only one additional employee which is a part time contracted position titled "Assistant to the Emergency Management Director".

The Assistant Fire Chief is also second in command of the Gloucester Fire Department. This method of dual role staffing is the most economical way to fill this critical position and accomplish the requirements and needs of emergency management while providing the flexibility needed to direct time, energy and resources to emergency management issues when needed.  Please visit the Fire Departments main page for contact information on the Asst.
