Preserving the Best of Gloucester

The Community Preservation Act (CPA) was approved by Gloucester voters in November 2008. The CPA creates a dedicated funding source, financed by the surcharge revenues and state matching funds, for the purpose of preserving:

  • Community housing
  • Historical properties
  • Open space
  • Recreation

A nine-member Community Preservation Committee makes a recommendation for the use of the funds to the City Council for its approval.
