Project: Trask Street Area
The Trask Street Area Public Improvements Project began on October 15, 2019. This project will result in improvements to certain water mains and water services; make sewerage system improvements including pipe relining, pipe replacement, and manhole rehabilitation; complete sidewalk and curbing replacement; complete full width street paving; and place pavement markings & upgraded signage. The Contractor has until June 2021 to complete the project, fully, but the job is expected to be completed in a more timely manner. This project may also lead the other public utilities, National Grid, Verizon, Comcast, etc. to undertake certain maintenance efforts on their infrastructure in the Neighborhood, as well.
Additional Information: For the duration of the project the areas shown on the attached map will be active construction sites so you should be careful walking and drive at a reduced speed accordingly. Construction activities may require the closing of the street to through traffic. On the days when construction is ongoing, it is important not to have any cars parked in the roadway between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. "No Parking" signs will be posted in advance of construction and parking restrictions will remain in effect until construction is complete for that day. You will have access to your driveway and may park on the street after work hours; however, as the project progresses; certain activities may require limited access or parking.
UPDATE: Granese has completed all of the water works required of this project. Granese expects to be off-site while the sub-contractor for National Grid/gas, NUECO, works to replace gas mains in the neighborhood.
Once NUECO has completed the NGRID-gas work, Granese will return to continue their work on this project including sanitary sewer work, storm drainage work, sidewalk work, and paving, etc.
This general schedule may be impacted by utility pole and overhead wiring work that National Grid-electric and the other utilities need to complete to allow for curbing, sidewalks and handicap access ramps to be properly located and constructed.
Currently, we still expect that in the Spring of 2020, Granese will be beginning the curbing, sidewalk, and related roadway work. Paving will likely be done in late Summer / early Fall 2020. In addition, although Granese by contract has until late June 2021 to complete the project, we expect that construction associated with the Trask Street Area Improvements Project will likely be completed before Thanksgiving 2020.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may incur during this process. The City appreciates your patience and forbearance during this important project. We feel that your cooperation will make this project a success. Granese’s work will be done under the direct supervision of CDM-Smith, Inc. (CDM-S), the City’s Design Engineers. The on-site Project Representative/Inspector is Steve DeFeo, who is available during working hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) on his mobile phone at (508) 523-9284.
