NATIONAL GRID REMEDIATION PROJECT


During the National Grid Remediation Project at Solomon Jacobs Park, the Harbormaster’s business office has been relocated to the DPW, 24 Poplar Street.   Shirley is in the small building located just outside the gate to the left of the DPW entrance.  Business hours are Monday-Thursday 8-4 and Friday 8-1230.  Shirley can be reached at 978 282 3012 or .


This relocation for Shirley will last until spring of 2017.


The Harbormaster’s Office will remain at 19 Harbor Loop but due to the ongoing construction all meetings with the Harbormaster need to be pre-arranged.  Jim Caulkett can be reached at 978 282 3013 or .

This project is expected to last through May 2017 however, the 19 Harbor Loop office will reopen Memorial Day Weekend 2016 and will be fully operational for the boating season.

It is the Harbormaster’s duty to promote the responsible use of all waterways in the city limits of Gloucester through public education and enforcement of all local, state, and federal environmental laws.

Responsibilities include:
  • Responding to distress situations
  • Ensuring safe navigation through the City’s waterways
  • Overseeing maintenance of the waterways
