Senior "Circuit Breaker" Tax Credit
Some seniors may be eligible to claim a refundable credit on their state income taxes based on local real estate taxes paid. In order to qualify a person must be over 65 years of age and must occupy the property as their primary residence. Renters may also be eligible since, for purposes of this program, the law assumes that 25% of their rent goes toward property tax.
