Staples Recycling Information
Free Technology Recycling

Bring in your old office technology products to a Staple's location and they will responsibly and securely recycle them at no cost to you — any brand, any condition, even if you purchased it somewhere else. See the chart below for accepted technology products.

Items accepted for free recycling*:

  • Desktop and all-in-one computers
  • Laptops, tablets, eReaders
  • Monitors
  • Desktop printers, copiers, scanners, faxes, multifunction devices
  • Shredders
  • UPS/battery backup devices (with or without included battery)
  • Computer peripherals including mice, keyboards, modems, routers and computer speakers
  • Small electronics including mobile phones, MP3 players/iPods, calculators, GPS devices, digital cameras, camcorders and cordless phones
  • Digital projectors, CD/DVD/Blu-ray players, gaming devices, A/V receivers, video streaming devices
  • External hard drives and small servers
  • Rechargeable batteries (if 11 pounds or less)

*Limit 6 items per customer per day. All brands of items are accepted regardless of where purchased. Staples® Copy & Print Shops do not accept electronics for recycling, but all other U.S. Staples locations accept electronics for free recycling.

Prohibited items not accepted for recycling:
  • Televisions
  • Floor model copiers and printers
  • Appliances
  • Large servers
  • Large speakers or speaker systems
  • Alkaline or lithium batteries (i.e., not rechargeable)
  • Lamps/bulbs

Best Buy Electronics Recycling
Best Buy offers a comprehensive appliance and electronics recycling program.. Best Buy collects items for recycling no matter from what retailer the products were purchased.  You are allowed to drop 3 items per person, per visit.

Effective February 1, 2016 Best Buy will charge $25 per television or computer monitor


Acceptable Items:

  • Tube 32" and less
  • Projectors
  • Flat Panel - LCD, Plasma, LED 60" and less
  • Portable televisions

Batteries:

  • Rechargeable Batteries (weighing less than 11 lbs)
  • Lap Top Batteries
  • Battery Back Ups
  • Cell Phone Batteries





Not Accepted:

Televisions:
  • Console televisions of any size or tube tv's and monitors larger than 32"
  • Front Projection (Big Screen)
  • Rear Projection (DLP)
  • Exposed Cathode Ray Tubes

Batteries:

  • Alkaline Batteries (single use)
  • Rechargeable batteries that weigh more than 11 lbs
  • Lead Acid Batteries (vehicle)
  • Lithium "button cell" batteries

Best Buy Also Accepts
Computers:  desktops, laptops, netbooks, All In One computers, tablets, and monitors under 32"

Mobile phones, charges, hands free head sets and digital cameras.

You may also bring Play Station, Xbox etc. consoles, PSP, Nintendo DS ect. handheld games.  They will also accept the cartridge or CD Rom games.

They will take music cd's, dvd, blu ray and HD dvd movies and eReaders
