GIS or Geographic Information Systems is mapping technology that uses computers to collect, store, manipulate, analyze and display data.

GIS in Gloucester is an evolving technology that has become an important component of many projects. The Engineering Department has taken an active role in the development of GIS for Gloucester, working with consultants to update the water, sewer and drainage systems. As the GIS technology grows The City of Gloucester can better provide its employees with tools to serve citizens with accurate location information and services. Several other departments such as Planning, Conservation, Building, Assessing, Fire and Health are also using GIS for project development and as an aid in responding to citizens requests.

The Information Technology Department maintains the City's GIS databases, online mapping solution and static maps. Please note that they are provided for informational purposes only. 

City of Gloucester Online Public Viewer provides geospatial information to the staff, residents and business community. The viewer offers the ability to access maps and property/asset information. The viewer also lets users search, query, measure and print maps. It is best viewed using Chrome for your browser. If you do not have chrome please click here Chrome

Note : In order to use features such as downloading spreadsheet data from the public viewer Internet Explorer users must add the site to their 'trusted sites' list and set the security for trusted sites to "Medium-Low".
