GIS in Gloucester is an evolving technology that has become an important component of many projects. The Engineering Department has taken an active role in the development of GIS for Gloucester, working with consultants to update the water, sewer and drainage systems. As the GIS technology grows The City of Gloucester can better provide its employees with tools to serve citizens with accurate location information and services. Several other departments such as Planning, Conservation, Building, Assessing, Fire and Health are also using GIS for project development and as an aid in responding to citizens requests.

he City of Gloucester is pleased to present to the residents and visitors alike, a mapping tool called MapGeo
. This tool enables the user to review any lot in the Town for informational purposes. This site allows the user to view the following attributes: assessor’s parcel field card information, zoning districts, water features, topography, land conservation, resource protection areas, wetland location and more. The site offers a basemap and an aerial map (2011). Lastly, the user can print maps with legends, scales and the information that has been selected.
