The Gloucester Fire Department provides fire suppression and emergency response capabilities with adequate manning, apparatus, equipment and trained personnel deployed on a 24 hours a day basis.

The department also provides prehospital emergency medical care, stabilization and transportation for ill or injured persons on a 24 hours a day basis. Two adequately manned and equipped ambulances are ready to respond. The closest available first-responder unit is deployed for immediate intervention and proper patient handling.
