Public Notice - Trask Street Area Public Improvements Project

The Trask Street Area Improvements Project is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on October 15, 2019. The Contractor doing this work is N. Granese & Sons, Inc. (Granese) of Salem, Massachusetts.  Granese has been awarded the contract to replace certain water mains; water services; make sewerage system improvements including pipe relining, pipe replacement, and manhole rehabilitation; complete sidewalk; curbing replacement; complete full width street paving; and place pavement markings; complete upgraded signage.

The Contractor has until June 2021 to complete the project, fully, but the job is

expected to be completed sooner. This project may also lead the other public utilities, National Grid, Verizon, Comcast, etc. to undertake certain maintenance efforts on their infrastructure in the Neighborhood, as well.

The Contractor’s working hours will generally be between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays. At times work may go later in the day due to unforeseen circumstances, and weekend work will almost never occur unless there is an emergency situation that needs to be addressed.

This project will result in improvements to: water quality, fire flow, sewerage system reliability, roadway drainage, sidewalks, curbing, and roadway surface conditions, including safety improvements by means of improved pavement markings and signage.

Granese's work will be done under the direct supervision of CDM-Smith, Inc. (CDM-S), the City’s Design Engineers.   The City of Gloucester Department of Public Works (DPW – Engineering & Utilities Divisions) will also be monitoring the work and managing the City’s Contracts. You should feel free to call Paul Keane, City Engineer, or Ryan Marques, Assistant City Engineer, at 978-325-5600 if you have any questions or concerns about the project.

As each specific work task is about to begin, the Contractor will hand out Notices for the specific area to
be impacted. Ongoing project information will also be available on the City web-site at:
