Dear Residents/Businesses on Washington St. (Derby St. to Pearl St.), Exchange St. & Commonwealth Av

This notice has been prepared to inform you that construction will soon begin on Washington Street (between Derby St. and Pearl St.) and into the lower sections of Exchange St. and Commonwealth Ave. by Washington St. This project will improve the service and reliability of the municipal water distribution system and will involve installation of new valves on Washington St. at Exchange St. and Commonweath Ave. intersections by the City’s Contractor N. Granese & Sons, Inc.

Sequence and Schedule:

The water work is scheduled to begin October 10th, and is anticipated to take a couple weeks to complete. Daytime working hours will be from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However since the water main will need to be shutdown to install new water valves, there will be a couple night time water service interruptions to buildings within the neighborhood. Residents/Business will be notified in advance of the date and time of these shutdowns.

Additional Information:

For the duration of the project the area will be an active construction site so you should be careful walking and drive at a reduced speed accordingly. Construction activities may require the closing of side streets to through traffic. On the days when construction is ongoing, it is important not to have any cars parked in the roadway during construction. “No Parking signs will be posted in advance of construction and parking restrictions will remain in effect until construction is complete for that day. You will have access to your driveway and may park on the street after work hours; however, as the project progresses, certain activities may require limited access or parking.
